ABOUT NICOLE

Welcome to my world! It's a little bit weird in here.

What I Do

Full Stack Web Developer

Using my keen planning and organizational skills, I create beautiful, functional applications that solve every day problems. MEAN stack, Full Stack, and Ruby apps allow me to be creative and let people interact with what I make in meaningful ways.

Visualizer

I plan thoroughly and I enjoy it. I give myself time to figure out the componenents needed to make everything I do work well while maintaining a clear path. Whether that be while making an app or performing an acrobatic act, planning is essential to excellent execution.

Full Time Nerd

Nerds are smart, nerds may obsess a bit, and nerds might know a little too much about the things they love. I use my nerd powers for good by working hard to learn all I can about the things that interest me.

Background

I am a New Jersey native who had a ten year stint in Boston and now lives in sunny Los Angeles. As a developer with a teaching background and a Masters Degree in educating deaf students, I am enthusiastic about using my skills to solve problems in real-time. My time as a teacher has helped me develop a keen sense of when things aren’t going the way they are supposed to and how I can find a quick solution. I find the challenge of revising and fixing as fun and satisfying as quick success. In addition to my actual teaching skills, I have honed and crafted my ability to fluidly code-switch between different languages. I learn new languages quickly and best through immersing myself in them. I enjoy finding patterns, acknowledging the differences, and playing with language by means of hyperbole. Like education, web development is an ever-evolving field: there are always new rules to follow, new trends to explore, and new things to learn. I find this exciting and look forward to being a part of the changes that are to come.

The Fun Bits

Spending time in front of a computer is fun, but I must say, getting up and running around has its merits. I enjoy hiking, running, biking, and yoga. My favorite way to feel the burn is in the air, practicing aerial acrobatics. I particularly love aerial hoop and partner acrobatics. Exercise is pretty great, but I also enjoy knitting. It's relaxing, creative, and another extension of my love of patterns.
